Maura sang this song as we floated down the Niangua River on Thursday. We were a bit apprehensive about taking a 2 year old on the water, but she did fantastic. No crashes, thanks to our expert paddler in the back. We did almost have one episode, but luckily we didn't tip over. Maura and I sat in front and watched for ducks, turtles, birds, big rocks, and logs and we had snacks to keep us occupied (popcorn worked beautifully).

All smiles as we left the bank to begin our adventure.

After a picnic lunch, we couldn't keep Maura out of the water. She loves to kick her feet and swim. Gary also enjoyed skipping rocks with her and we picked up some shells that we brought home. The water was a bit chilly, but felt great on a warm summer day.
Maura ended the trip asleep at my feet. She did so well that the next time we go, we plan on adding a few more miles.
Once back at camp, Gary fixed grilled chicken with vegetables, corn on the cob, and bing cherries. Yummy! As you can tell by this photo, we slept in a pop up camper-thanks to Uncle Wayne! The air conditioning and bed was fabulous for mommy.
Gary and I did wake up during the night due to a thunderstorm, but the important thing was that Maura slept through it all. We've decided that she is a camping/canoe trooper and plan to do it again real soon.
