Well I talked Gary in to taking our second float trip! It seems it always takes a pretty hefty arm twist to convince him to go. It probably has something to do with the age of our girls. Huh? Well once again we made it back safely. We had probably 3 pretty good close calls, but with Gary at the rear of the canoe, he took good care of us. He's such a CHAMP and did SO much for us this trip!!
So without further ado, let's take a walk down memory lane. Here are the girls and I on the school bus that took us down to the river. Yes, they thought riding the yellow bird was just the COOLEST!!

Some very nice people from our campsite loaned us a net to catch crawdads, minnows, and the like. Maura also used it during our sail to catch leaves floating in the water. Definitely was a nice item to have on the trip!
We had so much fun catching these little creatures.
During our stop, Gary spotted a Golden Eagle. This picture doesn't do this beautiful bird justice. It flew overhead and landed in this tree. It had a pretty powerful squawk and its wing span was incredible.
We brought our rafts and floated for a bit. This is how mommy convinces herself to get in the water.
After a 5 hour commute, we headed back to the campsite to gather our things.
This was our first camp out together with the "big" girls. I thought things went incredibly well and wished that we'd taken them sooner.
Our campsite was just beautiful ...nestled back in the trees.
Gary worked his tail off for us. He loaded all the gear, cooked most of supper, set up the tent, paddled down the Niangua, took down the tent, loaded the truck. Meanwhile, I was trying to entertain the girls...we took bike rides, played hide and go seek, caught lightning bugs, helped unload the firewood, fixed the sleeping bags in the tent, etc. Wished we could have stayed at least one more night, but alas we had to get back to the real world.
After our trip, we felt a great since of accomplishment!!!
